Our story
How it started

Ayivugwe Kabemba Mukome, founder and lead developer of Wekify LLC — which owns Peacae, and OhRec App (formerly Peacae Recorder) as part of that family — needed a straightforward way to capture videos and share them across many projects. Plenty of tools can do the job, but most come with trade-offs, small or large: vendor lock-in. Even recordings made on your own machine often cannot be downloaded — they are already locked in someone else's cloud. With not enough funds to pay for every tool he would need, he decided to build one.
It was one of the hardest challenges — but thankfully, AI agents are here to help us achieve more.
He works on language technologies that need to be shown to people easily, with less friction and without money getting in the way. Today that work centers on Kifuliiru, his mother tongue. He has built many tools for Kifuliiru and runs Kifuliiru Lab for the full body of work around the language, plus platforms including:
The Kifuliiru ecosystem
- Kifuliiru.com — The main platform to discover Kifuliiru and much more.
- Imyazi — A news site for Kifuliiru in Kifuliiru, English, French, and Kiswahili.
- Tabula Kifuliiru — A contribution platform for the preservation of Kifuliiru.
- Lola Kifuliiru — Social media for the Kifuliiru community.
- Kifuliiru FM — Part of Lola Kifuliiru — a place to find audio recordings submitted on Tabula Kifuliiru.
- Ganuula — Speak or talk — also part of Lola Kifuliiru, where people share what they know in Kifuliiru.
- Kifuliiru Data Engines — A lab for generating more data in and for Kifuliiru, plus advanced research.
- KObs & KLaSAn — Kifuliiru Observatory and Kifuliiru Language Simulator and Analyzer.
- Plus mobile apps and more.
Creating a tool for that job was the right call — and the best one. Peacae Recorder was born. Later it became OhRec: Oh! Just Record!! — That's it!
Beyond Kifuliiru
Ayivugwe also builds other tools as needed — including Peacae Resume, a modern letter-page resume builder that is simple to use but powerful, and OhRec, this platform.
The mark
The OhRec mark is a landscape video frame with a record disc punched through the center. The frame is the screen or camera you are capturing. The glow in the middle is a live lens — the camera is on. That is the goal of the tool: record what is happening now, on this device, without sending it away.
This project
OhRec App is a browser-based screen recorder built for speed and privacy. Record a display, window, tab, or webcam with optional microphone, system audio, chapters, and a presenter bubble — then play, rename, download, or manage recordings from a local library. Nothing is uploaded to a server. Your files stay in this browser using IndexedDB until you choose to download or delete them.
What you can do
Record your full screen, a single browser tab, or your webcam. Add microphone and system audio, mark chapters while you record, and optionally show a customizable presenter bubble in the corner. Switch between screen and camera mid-recording when both are enabled. In a dim room, Low light can lift the webcam without changing screen-only captures. When you finish, play recordings back, rename them, download WebM files, or delete them — all without leaving the browser.
Platforms
Recordings stay on this device until you download or delete them — private, local-first, and no install required. Native Mac and Windows apps are in development while we finish code signing.
Browser support
OhRec is optimized for Chromium browsers. Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Opera provide the most complete experience. Firefox uses a compatibility fallback and some capture features may vary. Safari support is limited, especially for system audio, codecs, and screen capture behavior.
- Chrome · Edge · Brave · Opera — Best experience
- Firefox — Compatible
- Safari — Limited
Local-first by design
OhRec does not upload your videos to a server or sync them across devices. Each recording lives in the browser where you made it — this computer, this browser profile. That keeps your content private and under your control, but it also means you need to download files you want to keep long-term or use on another machine.
Peacae
Peacae is the public home for focused products built by Wekify LLC — tools for work, creativity, reflection, and community. Each product solves a specific problem on its own, from project management and resume building to visual idea workspaces and ambient focus. OhRec fits that same philosophy: one job, done well, with people staying in control.
Wekify
Wekify LLC builds digital platforms that serve real community needs — especially language preservation and cultural technology. Through projects like Kifuliiru language platforms and community tools for the Bafuliiru people, Wekify combines thoughtful engineering with cultural sensitivity. Peacae is one expression of that work: practical software people can understand, trust, and keep using.
